A Dark Machine

A Dark Machine is the follow-up to 2013’s debut album Universus, which spawned the hits Light Cycles, Home and Chaos Theory. ShockOne’s decade-long career also includes the drum and bass classic Polygon and 2016’s In This Light EP. With A Dark Machine, Karl Thomas has created his best, most realised music yet.

Drawing influence from classic '80s films like Blade Runner and Beyond The Black Rainbow, ShockOne created A Dark Machine not only as a tribute to that era and atmosphere, but as a companion piece. “I’ve always been influenced by that particular era of cinema,” Thomas said. “It was almost like I was writing an album that could be a soundtrack to a film that exists in that world.”
