Japanese fashion label Comme Des Garçons was founded and headed by Rei Kawakubo in Tokyo. The brand gained popularity in the 70s becoming known for its heavy use of black, distressed fabrics and raw seams. In 1981, twelve years after Kawakubo established the label, Comme Des Garçons stepped in to the realm of Paris fashion week, showing both mens and womens wear.
