Japanese label Wacko Maria is renowned for its highly referential and attention-grabbing designs, paying homage to various aspects of pop culture. For SS23, this includes a wide range of influences, from Jean-Michel Basquiat to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, as the brand continues to champion diverse topics. Now, it turns its attention to one of the most recognisable Japanese media franchises - Ghost in the Shell - for its latest capsule collection.
First serialised in 1989, the Ghost in the Shell manga paved the way for countless anime adaptations. Wacko Maria pays tribute to the iconic film by adorning its classic rayon Hawaiian shirts with graphics that prominently feature the film's protagonist, Motoko Kusanagi.
