When Nike debuted the Shox system in 2000, it felt like the future had finally arrived. The idea first sprung into Bruce Kilgore's mind all the way back in 1984 while observing how indoor track sprinters bounced after hitting the ground through their stride. For 16 years Nike experimented with the spring system concept, but it wasn't until the new millennium that the first Shox was released, making sneaker history in the process.
