Cult cosmetic brand 19-69 was founded by the Swedish artist and product developer Johan Bergelin.
The ‘peace and love sign’ was designed in the 1950s by Gerald Holtom and, along with the peace hand sign, was adopted by anti-war activists during the 1970s. The name 19-69 stands for just this: freedom, tolerance, and counterculture. The scent "Chinese Tobacco" by 19-69 is also a reminiscence of a visit Johan made to a restaurant in Kuala Terengganu. It was late at night, and the air was filled with wonderful aromas from the kitchen area, while a group of men was smoking and playing cards.
