Merrell has been an industry leading provider of outdoor wear since 1981 when two executives from the Rossignol ski company, Clark Matis and John Schweizer decided to join forces with Randal Ivan Merrell, a maker of highly praised custom boots. The brand found early success through it’s highly acclaimed hiking boots. The U.S. publication ‘Backpacker Magazine’ named Merrell boots "the most comfortable and functional boots in North America”. Since then the brand has continued to innovate creating iconic silhouettes such as the eagle boot and jungle moc that have shaped the world of outdoor and adventure wear, making Merrell a stalwart of the industry for many years to come. With Merrell 1TRL, the journey continues. Combining decades of expertise with contemporary innovations to create a range of trail footwear that sets out to redefine the category. Returning models and new iterations, all united under the pioneering original energy.
This season Merrell 1TRL presents its brand-new "Future Trail" campaign, a collection created with the purpose of unwrapping the expeditions of professional athletes and explorers. Merrell 1TRL's latest campaign exhibits a series of on-film images, each photo commemorating the future of trail footwear. The heroes of the collection include the Hydro Moc All-Terrain and the brand new Hut Moc 2 Packable. The Hydro moc has accumulated cult status within te gorp-core community, however this season it returns with a twist, a bungee lace system with a toggle closure to allow for maximum comfort on any exploration. Merrell's HUT MOC packable 1 TRL slip-ons offer the ultimate quilted comfort for fatigued feet after an intense day on the trail. Both silhouettes are constructed from BLOOM® foam, a new fabric that consists of 10% algae biomass. During the process of extracting the algae the water source becomes purified, contributing to clean waterways that can be enjoyed by future generations.
