This season Cecilie Bahnsen and ASICS reunite to create yet another highly anticipated coquette inspired sneaker. The Danish designer released her first commercially available collaboration with ASICS in July of 2023, a semi-transparent couture-infused Mary Jane inspired GT-2160 silhouette. This season GT-2160 arrives in two distinct colourways, an eye-catching cobalt blue and hot pink. Digitally captured by the notable photographer Takashi Homma, Cecilie Bahnsen's latest ASICS campaign follows the journey of an ethereally composed girl as she wanders through the city at night in her captivating Cecilie Bahnsen ASICS. Homma creates visually stunning imagery exuding a noir sci-fi feeling and a sense of expressive freedom.

Last year ASICS and Cecilie Bahnsen collaborated on multiple runway exclusive silhouettes that were not readily available to be purchased by the mass market. This intriguing union began as an up-cycled collaboration, sneakers were worn by runway models during Cecilie Bahnsen's Paris Fashion Week show last year. After the show 50 entirely unique hand embroidered ASICS were sold in various silhouettes including the GEL-NIMBUS 9 and GEL 1130. The Copenhagen-based designer is no stranger to the realm of couture as her ballet-core charged sneaker suggests. Cecilie Bahnsen has founded her eponymous label on a unique interpretation and fusion between French and Scandinavian design, creating voluminous feminine dresses in combination with technical footwear. In an interview Bahnsen states that “it is really important to me that these really precious, beautiful pieces are something you want to wear every day and put together in your own way.” Her perspective on wearability is a testament to her collaboration with ASICS, establishing this awe-inspiring union as a versatile must-have piece for everyday wear and special occasions.

The pink GT-2160 closely follows the design of the previous interpretation, with a dainty bow accent above the decorative toe box and a singular floral embellished strap taking centre stage. However the cobalt colourway provides a different interpretation featuring a dual strap enclosure, reminiscent of typical tech-wear silhouettes. A noticeable difference between both new pairs to the prior iteration is the presence of a tongue, providing a higher degree of comfort and security.
