Founder of the Italian streetwear label Aries Arise, Sofia Prantera, has been creating bold, rave-infused pieces since launching her label in 2009. The brand catapulted into the mainstream of contemporary fashion, thanks to celebrity sightings on the likes of Taylor Russell and Zendaya, as well as various big-ticket collaborations with Clarks, Umbro, and Juicy Couture. Prantera attributes the success of her unconventional aesthetic to the evolutionary process that occurs throughout each season, building upon the stories of previous seasons to create more complex designs. While the intricacies of her designs progress with each season, her DIY approach remains the same. In an interview with British Vogue, Prantera states that “it’s important to always doubt yourself, move things forward to feel fresh and unexpected.” Her experimental taste is attributed to her time at Central Saint Martins in the '90s, which involved learning to use garments as a canvas.
Today, the experimentation continues, with Aries' creative direction firmly rooted in a mixture of Prantera’s Italian heritage and the British rave culture that she was immersed in while studying in London. Maintaining a relaxed approach to silhouette and styling, most garments are oversized and genderless, reiterating that Aries is a label that can be worn by anyone. This season's AW23 delivery arrives in a broad offering of shapes, styles, and graphics suited to any occasion. Whether you are looking for an eye-catching t-shirt or tank to wear to a warehouse rave or an elevated drawstring skirt for a festive celebration, Aries has the gaps in your wardrobe covered.
