Search Engine is a reproduction of London-based artist Louis Porter’s series of "catalogue cards" featuring photographs sourced from the London Library. Created between 2021 and 2022, the book explores the library's unique alphabetical classification system found in the "Science & Miscellaneous" section where eclectic subjects like Sleep and Smuggling become neighbours.
Porter’s first book for Perimeter Editions acts as an archaeological exploration of knowledge systems, examining how these historical photographic records continue to shape our modern perception of reality.
