Before Nike was even called Nike, Bill Bowerman built the brand's first running shoe by hand, melting his wife's waffle iron in pursuit of a sole that could grip without digging in. The result became a piece of footwear folklore, nicknamed the Moon Shoe for the lunar-like prints it left in the dirt at the 1972 US Olympic Trials. The Cacao Wow colourway warms the original up with a brown nylon upper and gum outsole, leather Swoosh detailing intact, carrying the same waffle traction that quietly started everything Nike has become.
