Yo, it’s an honour to be here. Thanks team HAL! I’m Jake Carter, Co-Founder and Roaster at DoubleDouble Coffee.
How Did DoubleDouble Come About?
DoubleDouble officially began in 2020 but it was a constant conversation between Samh (DD’s other half) and I for a few years prior to that. The idea for DD was to view coffee a different way, we wanted to create a product that resonated with the people we hang out with. It’s hard to quantify, but we wanted it to be more than one thing, to sit somewhere between clothing and coffee and to be worked on by many hands.
What’s New for Double Double in the Coming Year?
Our focus will continue to be design forward concepts with some of our favourite brands and heaps more banging coffee!
How Do You Unwind When You Are Not Working on Double Double?
We’re big on including self-care into each day. Under the sticker of every bag you’ll find the words “The secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine”. Our secret isn’t that revolutionary, for us it’s all about balance. Samh eases into the day with a mix of sauna, spa and meditation. I’m more of a night owl so unwinding for me looks like lighting some incense, pouring a glass of natty wine and cooking something good. Maybe an NBA rerun after.

I guess like DD, my taste in music doesn’t land in one place. It's varied but feels most at home with hip hop. We’ve curated a bunch of songs that are chill enough enjoy loud while brewing some delicious coffee in good company.
