Please Introduce Yourself...
My Name is Daniel Mitchell, creative director and founder of Space Available. I'm from the UK, however I've moved to Bali and lived here for the past nine years.

How Did Space Available Come About?
Space Available was born during the lockdown. The global pandemic created a space of planetary disruption, and in times of disruption big ideas can grow. I have been working in circular design for several and felt change was happening too slowly, so we saw the pandemic as a time we can use to stop, reflect and imagine how the future could look and how we can rebuild with new systems... and that is what kicked off Space A.

What’s new for Space A in the coming year?
Our mission is to make space for nature and we do that by recycling the plastic waste we leave in nature, and also work with nature in the lab exploring bio materials as a real alternative. So we are very much expanding our recycling operations and also working in the lab growing mycelium as part of our latest case study collection 'radical fungi'.

How Do You Unwind When You Are Not Working on Space A?
I surf daily and live a very active lifestyle which generally involves being in nature. And I have a couple of young kids so I spend as much time as I can with them. The ethos of space available is to 'make space' so I do a daily practice which is like my daily rituals of maintaining balance.
