Episode 03

Sho Takahashi - Wacko Maria

I was fortunate to be introduced to Sho by my pal, Keigo Uetake. Sho and I instantly became friends and have remained good homies ever since.
English isn’t his first language, so it’s wonderful to have a connection that is beyond words. Sho’s definitely up there as one of the most stylish, genuine and creative people I have met in my career.
Along with being a designer at Wacko Maria, Sho deejays at a monthly music night in Tokyo and is also responsible for some of the dopest Wacko Maria parties.
It is with great pleasure, we share with you some insight into Sho’s world and his musical taste. Here’s Tokyo’s finest: Sho Takahashi. Welcome to the lounge…

Sho Takahashi - Wacko Maria

Firstly, thank you very much for being a part of this project.

Where were you born and raised?

Shizuoka, Japan.

What drives you in your work?

When I am strolling outside, drinking at a bar, or partying at a club and I see a random guy wearing our clothes — that always gives me the feeling that all the effort and hard work that was put into making the garment was worth it.

How do you treat yourself after a long week at the grind?

I bought a car recently — a black, vintage Camero. I enjoy going for long drives these days.

Which artist (of any discipline) has inspired you, living or dead and Why?

Dash Snow... I find the way he dresses and the way he expresses himself aesthetically pleasing. Fedora hats. Grillz. Gold necklaces. All that kind of stuff. I’m a big fan of his polaroids, too.

Next holiday destination?

Cambodia or Thailand.

Movie or book you have seen/read this year you would recommend to a friend.

Only Lovers Left Alive, a film by Jim Jarmusch. Adam ... the vintage guitar ... the interiors ... the records. Everything in that film was great.

Favorite car?

64 - 70’s Chevy Impala. I love the shape of the body and the shape of the tail from that era. An impala with wire tires making a turn on three-wheels is where it’s at.

Whats for dinner tonight?

Chinese.
