Holistically inclined performance wear label District Vision was founded in 2016 by Max Vallot and Tom Daly, two friends who met years prior at business school in New York. The duo combined their experience within the sphere of high-end fashion to create the active wear brand that athletes and running enthusiasts have collectively come to know and love today. Vallot was working at Saint-Laurent and Daly for Acne Studios when they decided to start a label that reflects their shared passion for running and meditation. Inspired by high quality Japanese eyewear District Vision was purely focusing on constructing sunglasses built to sustain the most extreme conditions. After succeeding in creating the perfect pair of sunglasses they decided to branch out into the realms of garment construction and wellness.
Established on a joint mission to “bridge the worlds of movement and mindfulness” District Vision seeks to create the perfect outdoor wellness toolkit by providing customers with technical apparel, eyewear, and meditation courses. While high performance eyewear remains at the centre of District Vision’s design focus, they also continuously strive to push the boundaries of endurance within the garment construction process. Each pair of glasses features adjustable nose pads with a delicately engineered frame to offer an aesthetically pleasing alternative to the typical ‘cyborg’ style wraparounds. Lenses utilise D+ Technology to create completely strain resistant glasses that can withstand the highest UV. Additionally, all eyewear is shatterproof, water and oil repellent, with such demanding specifications everything continues to be handmade in Japan. The attention to detail from District Vision does not stop here, garments incorporate a unique technology called Air-Wear Tech, a hidden mesh fabric constructed from a series of diamond-shaped perforations that open and close with movement.
